Status Update

Rita is out of the NICU but not yet home; Rose is doing great.

Rita—Earlier today, Rita was discharged from the NICU but admitted as a patient in the Pediatric Renal unit. While her ascites has essentially disappeared, she still has some problems with her electrolytes. Specifically, her phosphorus level is higher than it should be.

Despite much investigation, there is still no specific diagnosis. However, Rita is eating well, is very strong, and otherwise appears to be doing very well. The doctors and we (of course) are hopeful that her electrolyte levels can be corrected via dietary means and that she will be released to come home soon.

Rose—Rose has been doing well since coming home last week. She has been gaining slightly over one ounce per day. She rarely cries and is quickly satisfied when she does--hopefully, a trend that will continue. :-)
